During my trip to LA, I decided to go down to Hollywood, and photograph something we rarely associate with that area: the homeless. Contrary to popular belief, Hollywood is not all about glitz and glamour. There is a lot of devastation in that area, and I wanted to capture it. We snapped some photos of some of them, heard their stories, and gave them a lil somethin-somethin for their time. It’s amazing how glamorous dreams can turn into a living nightmare. We appreciated that look into their world:

THE DRIFTERS
We stumbled upon these 2 charismatic, young drifters on Hollywood Blvd. They were dingy, and grimey– but something about them was beautiful to me. I just knew if these guys had an intense shower, and some cleaner clothes they would be runway material. I was very intrigued by them– their story was simple….

They left their homes in their teens. Feeling rebellious like they didn’t belong. And they never turned back. They live their lives drifting from place to place, riding on the back of Amtrak trains. When asked why, they couldn’t seem to find the words. Dedicated to a life of rebellion. The drifters:

(yes, that is really “horse sh*t” tatooed on his face!)

It’s a cool, cruel world indeed.
