Last week at the SOHO HOUSE, I viewed the premiere of independent film: “My Hustle” by Pete Finch. Pete is the renowned host of hip-hop show “LIVE! With Pete Finch”– an interactive variety show that showcases various hip-hop talent, and interviews.

The film is a real-life journey through the last 8 years of his life, and the struggles and triumphs he’s seen along the way. Nostalgic, funny at times, and charming– this film will definitely resonate with people on a similar path, and might even inspire a few in the process!
My one criticism would be that personally, I felt the film could have been just as effective if it was a bit shorter. At times, there was a little unecessary “fluff”– but outside of that, it was an inspiring effort with a positive message: NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS! Here’s more:
“The movie charts Pete’s hard scrabble life in New York City,” says The Connecticut Post. From couch-surfing and sleeping on floors all over town, to halting his mission to help his father successfully run for mayor of his hometown; the promotional wizard who is often compared to P.T. Barnum manages to teach film to inner city youth, interview celebrities, and lecture at universities, all while surviving on a diet consisting only of Blimpie subs. The entertaining and motivational, MY HUSTLE encapsulates the raw ambition of a generation of 20-somethings on the quest of obtaining prosperity.
MY HUSTLE features rare footage and exclusive interviews with Lil Wayne, Akon, Shaquille O’Neil, Wyclef Jean, Nas, T-Pain, Soldier Boy, Ice Cube, Tyson Beckford Tracy Morgan, Fabolous, Jim Jones, and Ron Browz.
