This morning as I made my daily commute on the train, I noticed I kept choosing music selections from NIRVANA. Surely one of my favorite bands from the grunge era, and just in general– Nirvana has always been a backdrop to the soundtrack of my life, I’m very inspired by the angst in their lyrics. We all have a dark side, and sometimes that side needs to be embraced– listening to their music is therapeutic for me– even over a decade since Kurt’s death…. I wanted to dedicated today’s “pic of the day” to him and his legacy. He’ll never really die because his influence is still so strong. He was a tortured soul, who never really wanted the level of fame that he eventually got, and I understand completely.

There is no artist that famous in the world who doesn’t eventually succumb (or go partially insane) by the pressure. I’m spooked by his demons, and the circumstances that caused him to take his life. It makes me sad, but I’m still so happy that while he was here, his art was so appreciated and will go on forever. Enjoy some images of him, and one of my favorite songs he performed on MTV’s “UnPLUGGED” : “Come As You Are”.
