Nothing could have prepared me for the news I heard this morning that Guru (born Keith Elam) of super-group GANG STARR passed on at the young age of 43.  He finally lost his long battle with cancer. I remember as a kid listening to Step in the Arena, Code of the Streets, Moment of Truth, Jazzmatazz, and later FULL CLIP with all their hits. Bopping my head to “Dwyck” even now, as if we were in 1992. When Jim Jones references “powerful music”– these are the types of artists I think of. Timeless, classic talents whose words reverberate with a whole slew of people from all walks of life. POWERFUL. Guru was powerful, and his memory always will be. This has got to be one of the worst 4/20′s of my life. I woke up with sadness on my heart, then I hear this. How tragic. Lighters in the air one-time for the legend that is Guru, may you rest in power forever.
