A few weeks back during Fashion week, CCW had the pleasure of sitting down with the beautiful and talented accessory designer Melody Ehsani. We want to apologize for the delay of this much-anticipated interview. Our MAC crashed, and has been serviced for the past few weeks. But worry not! We’re bringing you the goodness! Ehsani has designed for many hot acts including: Erykah Badu, Rihanna, Keri Hilson, Cassie, and many, many others. Cocoa B: Whattup world, I’m hear hanging with the BEAUTIFUL and talented Ms. Melody Ehsani for our exclusive fashion week interview. She came in all the way from LA to holler at us, so this is a real treat!

Melody E: First off, thank you so much, Cocoa. You got me blushing over here! [LAUGHS} Well, ummm basically I'm a designer I make shoes, I make jewelry, and I'm just about to branch out into the cut-n-sew world.

Cocoa B: Whooo! Look out for that y'all. Her accessories are so dope, I'm sure her cut-n-sew pieces will be gag-worthy! Tell us about some of your A-list clientele-- you boast some of the best in the biz!

Melody E: Yes, well I've been fortunate enough to work with some of my favorite ladies: Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Keri hilson, Ciara, Erykah Badu of course (who I absolutely adore)....

Cocoa B: Amazing! And how long have you been doing this?

Melody E: Professionally? About 2 years now. But I've always been into designing and creating dope pieces for myself.

Cocoa B: WHOA. So all these A-listers clamoring for Melody, and she just stepped into the game? Brilliant! You are literally living the American dream!

Melody E: Yes, definitely living out my dreams.

Cocoa B: Well, we are so excited to have you out here. I know you're based in LA, and you are in NYC for fashion week. Tell us-- what is your oldest fashion-related memory? Did you have a favorite tee as a child (for example)?

Melody E: Well, I think like every year I had a piece that I just couldn't let go of... But thinking back-- and I AM an 80's baby... I had this one neon green tank top with polka dots and buttons down the front. I think I wore that sucka everyday for like the whole entire year. I practically LIVED in that thing!

Cocoa B: Hey, that sounds dope! I might prolly wanna rock that right now, actually! So, tell us-- you have a very unique eccentric style. Who or what inspires your style?

Melody E: Well, I meditate a lot. It's very intense and visual-- it's almost like dreaming while your awake. I put questions into my meditations, and I see things. I get inspired a lot by that. Nature, I absolutely love. So that inspires me constantly. And then there's people, magazines... My inspiration comes from everywhere, and sometimes it comes even when I'm not looking for it...

Cocoa B: Wow, you are a very interesting young lady, lol. Ok-- so if you were on SURVIVOR, and you could only bring 4 items of clothes with you, what would those items be?

Melody E: Definitely a pair of jeans. a wife beater, a camouflage jacket with long sleeves.... And SOCKS!

Cocoa B: Wow! You've done well! Cool, practical and fashionable all at once. Good job, Mel! [LAUGHS] If you were planning the ultimate high-fashion party, which 3 designers would be a must-have on your guestlist?

Melody E: I really love Alexander Wang, whoever designs PHI and Gareth Pugh.

Cocoa B: UGH!!!! I GAG! Awesome choices, especially Gareth Pugh, I looooove his dresses they look all Star Trek 2079 or something. VERY futuristically delicious! So… What is your fashion philosophy? Some say “less is more”. What do you say?

Melody E: You know, I don’t really have one. I’m all about authenticity– and what motivates you from moment to moment. However you feel when you wake up in the morning… Go with that. Just do you, and be happy!

Cocoa B: That’s a great philosophy in and of itself, girl! Yesssss. Ok, now is my favorite part. The fire-shot round. I state 2 things, you name your favorite…. Claudia Schiffer or Cindy Crawford?
