Say It Loud, I’m BLACK and I’m proud. Fall Trend: Dark Lips! 

You’ve seen it and even have tried to rock it yourself! Yep ladies, I’m talking about the DARK lip for the FALL!  You see all your favorite celebrities wearing it like Rihanna and Keisha Cole and NY Fashion Week ’09 couldn’t get enough of it. 

Ok, now I know what you’re thinking: “EWW, I don’t want any dark color on my lips that’s going to have me looking all gothic and creepy!” SOOOOO NOT THE CASE!!!!!  It’s sexy, seductive, and brings more dirty looks your way (*hint*hint*) LOL.  Its 1940’s inspired and to top it off, you can add an exotic CATEYE to complete your whole look.  My favorite is the YSL Lipstick: VOUPEL $34 (Sephora).  Also, the perfect nail color to go with it would be NARS nail color: TOKAIDO EXPRESS $16 (Sephora).  If you feel like you don’t want to go too dark then, bright and deep reds are fine as well.  Now, the key to BOLD lips is LIP LINER.  For dark lips, you want to use the dark plums, dark wines, and dark reds.  For my adventurous ladies, you can even go as dark as BLACK.  Remember Ciara’s video: “Go Girl”? DOPE! 

 Now a bold lip is very clean and has a light shine.  So, we don’t want to use a lot of lip gloss!  You ever seen the black tar liquid that spills in the street??? EWW!!!!  Not the look we want to go for!!! LOL.  I would suggest M.A.C. lip liner in NIGHTMOTH or VINO $16 (M.A.C. Stores).  Trace your lip line then, completely fill in your lip.  Put 2 dabs of clear lip gloss and blend it in (I prefer a lip brush but a Q-Tip is fine as well). 

For my recessionistas (June Ambrose voiceJ), here’s the look for less: You can use CG’s Wetslick’s lip gloss in BURGANDAZZLE 300 $7 (Pharmacies) with any lip liner in the WINE family.  Anyone in any shade can use it and you will look simply HOT!!! LOL.  So, wear your DARK BOLD lip and “Say it loud, I’m BLACK and I’m proud!!!”
