When I was growing up, Nia Long was my idol. I loved her! She was always so graceful, and classy. Always spoke very well and always had a very casual beauty about her. She never seemed high-maintenance or snooty. She was beautiful with short hair cuts, and she made them cool. I have always respected her, and recently she came out with a statement in the magazine above, which I must say rings very true to me. She called out a few singer-turned-wannabe-actors. Check it:

“I didn’t see ‘Obsessed,’ so I can’t comment, but it’s just not about how talented you are anymore. It’s about, ‘How much box-office revenue will this person generate?’ When you see certain people – we won’t name names – they just don’t have the skill, and no one in their team has said, ‘You need acting classes.”

I couldn’t agree more. There are people who dedicate their lives to the craft of acting. Going to school, learning techniques, putting in major work. These people are often over-looked for less-than-stellar pop-star-turned-actors, who most often then not create stale versions of what someone with real seasoned talent could have made genius. I’m not hating. I’m just saying we are not all jacks-of-all-trades. If you were blessed with a gift, stick with that because that is where you shine. Don’t take away from a craft, and take away from real talented people because your an opportunist. BLAH!
