After T.I’s sold out farewell concert this weekend in Atlanta, he had a huge going-away bash at the Velvet Room. There were droves and roves of people who came out to support their local hero– T.I….

At first, I was kinda hatin’ on a brother just not understanding why one would have to purchase so much firepower, and I really just thought he was a jackass. But now that I think about the untimely murder of his best friend and assistant– who essentially took the bullet that was supposed to be his– I can see his paranoia. I can feel it. I can understand it. If I stared death that close in the face and lost my bff in the process, I’d prolly want a war too. I’d prolly want to do anything and everything to protect me and my family to the tenth degree. Not to say I co-sign with having a plethora of semi-automatic weapons, 500 bullets, or a silencer– but I do see where his paranoia came from. And until I’m in that situation, I will never understand…

I also learned why T.I is so loved in his native Atlanta and elsewhere. He has done more for his community than probably anybody else in the hip hop industry. Which is kind of sad considering there are a few cats that boast significantly more money, but have not even done half of what T.I has done. The man built over 24 homes for the homeless with his own money, and started programs for children in his community– he is truly one that loves his community though his criminal record might say different. I hope that during this tough time for him and his family, he uses the time to reflect and plan ahead for a brighter future. Those that killed his friend will get it in the end– if they haven’t already. Tip, just do you, fear God and keep making good music! We here at CCW wish you the best!
